Lovebook Privacy Policy

This policy explains which data Lovebook processes, why it is processed, who receives it, and how you can exercise your rights.

Data controller

  • Lovebook is published by Aegis Techno in France.
  • For questions about your personal data, email contact@aegis-techno.fr.

Data processed

  • Account and profile: email address, account identifier, sign-in method, and display name.
  • Couple space: both partners’ identifiers, invitation details, relationship status, and activation date.
  • Shared content: messages, favourites, dates, outings, places you enter, notes, and journal memories.
  • Activity: assigned or completed missions, daily streak, and unlocked achievements.
  • Notifications: notification permission, Expo push token, and information required for requested reminders.
  • Subscription: Premium status, platform, and transaction identifier required to validate a purchase. Lovebook does not receive payment card details.
  • Android analytics, after you consent: screens viewed, sessions and usage duration, app version, technical device information, language, and approximate geographic area derived from the IP address. Firebase may also record automatic events such as first opens, app updates, or in-app purchases.
  • These statistics are associated with an installation identifier and, when you are signed in, a pseudonymous identifier derived from your account. This pseudonym stays the same across your devices and when you enable analytics again. It links your usage without transmitting your raw account identifier; these data are not anonymous.
  • Security and operations: IP address, technical logs, and invitation attempts may be processed by our services to secure and maintain the app.

Purposes and legal bases

  • Performing the requested service allows us to create your account, set up your shared space, store your content, synchronise the app, and manage your subscription.
  • Your consent allows us to send notifications. You can refuse or disable them in your device settings.
  • Your separate consent allows audience measurement through Google Analytics for Firebase to understand which screens you view and how you use Lovebook, so we can improve the app. You can refuse or withdraw this consent without losing access to features.
  • Our legitimate interests allow us to secure the app, prevent fraud, diagnose errors, and answer support requests.
  • Our legal obligations may require us to retain certain information related to purchases and requests concerning your rights.

Access to your data

  • Your profile, messages, and journal are available to you and your partner in Lovebook.
  • Database security rules restrict in-app access to the members of your couple.
  • Authorised Aegis Techno personnel access data only to provide support, protect the service, or handle a request concerning your rights.
  • We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Service providers and transfers

  • Supabase hosts the database and provides authentication. The main project is hosted in Paris, France.
  • Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging deliver notifications to your device.
  • With your consent, Google receives audience measurement data through Google Analytics for Firebase. Google may process them outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, under the transfer safeguards applicable to its services.
  • Google or Apple is involved if you choose its sign-in service. Google Play processes Android purchases and subscriptions.
  • These providers receive only the data required for their service. Some may process data outside the European Economic Area under their applicable contractual safeguards and transfer mechanisms.

Retention periods

  • Data directly associated with your account is retained while the account exists.
  • After you delete your account, messages you wrote remain in your partner’s archive without your name or account identifier. If your partner also deletes their account, the shared space and its content are deleted.
  • The push token is retained until it is replaced, invalidated, or the account is deleted.
  • In Google Analytics, the retention period is 14 months for both event data and user data. For user data, new activity may restart this period if the corresponding setting is enabled. This setting does not apply to standard aggregated statistical reports.
  • Your analytics choice remains stored on your device until you change it or clear the app’s storage. Withdrawing consent stops new collection but does not erase events Google has already received. You can contact us to exercise your right to erasure of these data.
  • Technical logs and security data are retained for as long as needed to diagnose issues, prevent abuse, and protect the service.
  • Transaction identifiers may be retained after account deletion to prevent fraudulent reuse of a purchase and comply with our legal obligations.

Permissions and tracking

  • Lovebook requests permission to send notifications and, separately, your consent to analytics on Android.
  • The app does not access your GPS location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone. You can enter a place for a journal outing. With your analytics consent, Google may derive an approximate geographic area from the IP address.
  • Analytics is disabled by default. On Android versions that include it, you can accept or refuse the initial request, then change your choice under Profile → Audience measurement (Profil → Mesure d’audience in the French interface). This choice is specific to each device.
  • Select “Disable” in that section to stop collection on the device. Lovebook then stops associating your account pseudonym with new Analytics events. Enabling analytics again resumes measurement with the same pseudonym if you are signed in to the same account.
  • We do not send Analytics your loving messages, journal contents, name, email address, or invitation codes or links. Measured screen names are predefined and contain no navigation parameters.
  • We disable advertising identifier collection, advertising storage, and ad personalisation in the app. We use Analytics for audience measurement, without targeted advertising.

Your rights

  • You may request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your data, as well as restriction of processing or object to it where the GDPR applies.
  • Email contact@aegis-techno.fr from the address linked to your account. We will respond within 30 days.
  • You may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL, at www.cnil.fr.

Delete your Lovebook account

  • In the app, open Profile and select “Delete my account” below the “Sign out” button. After two confirmations, deletion is immediate and permanent.
  • Lovebook deletes your account, email address, display name, profile, and other data linked to your identity.
  • Messages you wrote remain in your partner’s archive without your name or account identifier. If your partner also deletes their account, the shared space and its content are deleted.
  • If you cannot access the app, email us from the address linked to your account and use the subject “Delete my Lovebook account”. We will process your request within 30 days.
  • Deleting your Lovebook account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in Google Play before requesting deletion to prevent renewal.
Request deletion by email

Children

  • Lovebook is not intended for anyone under 18. If you believe that a child under 18 has provided data to us, contact us to request its deletion.

Changes to this policy

  • We will update this page if Lovebook changes the data it processes, its providers, or how the service works. The date at the top identifies the latest version.
